The Stoechas Types of Lavender
Stoechas Lavenders are distinguishable because all have a tightly compressed flower head with brightly colored flower bracts. The Stoechas group of Lavender includes:
L. stoechas var. pedunculata
Lavandula dentata var. candicans
These Lavenders comprise those often called French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian. The Lavender flower heads being tightly compressed almost resemble mini corn cobs with rows of flower bracts.
L. stoechas var. pedunculata grows in Spain and Portugal. parts of North Africa, Asia Minor and the Balkans. The flower stalks are larger (the peduncles.) This Lavender is more low growing and sprawling.
