Lavender Insect Repellent
How to make your own Insect Repellent using Lavender
Lavender is wonderful as a natural insect repellent and it smells wonderful too! Making your own insect repellent allows you to control just what chemicals go on your body.
Try using a pure Lavender spray mist (with real essential oil) to keep those pesky gnats away when you are out working in the yard. You can make your own with essential oil and distilled water or you may purchase one like Aura Cacia's aromatherapy mist which may be used on the body and will work too as a Lavender insect repellent.
You may also dab a few drops of pure essential oil on your wrists, neck, ankles to help keep the pests at bay. Lavender oil even works as a flea repellent for dogs.
Make your own repellent using Lavender essential oil (25-30 drops) and Eucalyptus (6-10 drops) and 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil (which is one of the best oils for your skin) Put into a small container such as a jelly jar that is not plastic (the essential oil will degrade it) with a tight fitting lid. Shake well prior to use and simply dip a finger in a dab around your body before going out. This is a great natural Lavender mosquito repellent!
