Caged Lavender Sticks
How to Make Caged Lavender
Caged Lavender sticks begin the same way as Lavender bottles or Lavender wands except that you will not be weaving ribbon through the stems. To make the sticks you will need 8-10 fresh Lavender flower stems.
Begin by tying the flower stems together just below the base of the flowers with twine. Next gently fold the stems around the flowers forming a cage around the blossoms. Try and space the stems equally around the flower heads. When you are finished arranging the stems tie them together to hold them in place.
You may now put a decorative ribbon over where you tied and wrap the stems to the bottom and back up tying a pretty bow at the base of the cage. You may also choose not to wrap the stems but simply tie a bow at the base and then cut the remaining stems leaving about an inch. This is better if you plan on hanging or suspending your cages up for decoration on doorknobs, Christmas trees and the like.
Lavender Cages are more fragile than Lavender bottles in that you may loose a few flower buds now and then but they are a creative way to display the lovely Lavender flower blossoms and they smell ever so sweet.
