Using Lavender Oil to Treat Insect Bites & Stings

Preventing Insects from Biting or Stinging using Lavender

Lavender Essential Oil is a natural insect repellent but also will soothe and help heal those pesky insect bites and stings too.

Apply a single drop of sweet Lavender essential oil (not Oil of Spike or Lavandin Oil) to a bite or sting. The compounds in the oil will take away the itch or sting of the venom. The oil is naturally antibacterial, anti-fungal which will speed healing and it also helps to protect against scarring.

To treat stings first remove the stinger if still embedded in your skin. Then apply a single Lavender drop to the site.

If you find your self covered in chigger bites from being outside you may also spritz your skin with a hydrosol containing Lavender , or a homemade mist made by putting 10-15 drops of oil to 1 1/2 cups of water - you may use regular or distilled if you have it on hand. Simply mist the affected area, remember to shake the bottle well before and during use.
