What are the skin benefits of Lavender?
Lavender is great for the skin. Some of its skin benefits include that of being antiseptic and anti-fungal which helps to reduce scarring and speeds healing. The essential oil is also an anti-inflammatory and circulatory stimulant.
Your skin benefits when bacteria are kept in check due to the antiseptic properties of Lavender essential oil (not Spike or Lavandin) This means you will have fewer acne breakouts and infections if you are treating cuts, scrapes or insect bites. Your skin heals faster too! Next let's talk about anti-inflammatory properties. When inflammation is reduced there is less skin redness and blotchiness of the complexion. Your skin looks more evenly colored which benefits your appearance.
Lastly, when the circulatory system is enhanced by the use of this essential oil an increase in blood flow means more nutrients being brought to the skin along with much needed oxygen to the cells. This is essential to healthier cells, and benefits more frequent cell turnover.

Use Lavender Oil for skin conditions. Wounds, cuts, scrapes, burns, rashes, athelete's foot, and insect stings or bites all are benefited by the use of products containing this wondrous ingredient. Even sunburn heals faster with little or no scarring.
Use a mist such as Aura Cacia's aromatherapy mist or make your own by adding 10-14 drops of sweet essential oil to 1/12 cups of water and putting it in a misting bottle. Mist your burned skin to help it heal - remember to shake the bottle well before each use.

How To Use Lavender Oil For Skin
This is one of the few essential plant oils that you may directly apply to the skin in 'neat' form. Here are some tips for using Lavender essential oil for your skin for some at home spa time. Facial care could not be simpler or more enjoyable than this.
For acne try applying it directly to the blemish after you wash your face. You may spritz your face with a hydrosol a few times a day as this benefits it as well.
Steam Cleansing:
Place your face over a bowl of freshly boiled water with a few drops of essential oil added. Drape a towel over your head to trap the steam which acts as a carrier carrying the benefits of the oil to your pores.Do this skin treatment about once a week for 5 minutes at a time. Finish with a splash or two of cool water. You will be glowing!
Towel Steaming:
Wet a clean white face towel in water and wring out. Place the towel into your microwave for not more than 1 minute on high. Use caution as the towel should be and will be hot. Add a few drops (3-4) of essential oil to the damp hot towel and give it a squeeze to distribute them.Wrap your face in this towel for 2 minutes and no more. Breathe in and relax letting your skin and body benefit from the essence. You may repeat this once more if desired. If you don't have a microwave use a dish with some very hot water and a few drops of essential oil added.
